Richard Whitfield - Gracenotes Recitals

Classical soprano song, with poems (by Richard Whitfield), featuring Sweden’s Karin Thyselius, and her accompanists Michael Brownlee-Walker or Alice Turner.

Launched in August 2004, Gracenotes recitals bring differing skills and traditions into a fresh soul-stirring proximity. Combining an outstanding young Swedish soprano with a practical academic mind makes for unusual ‘correspondences’. Songs from soul are complemented by accessible and poignant poetry that speaks constructively to the human condition.

Recitals have varied programmes and may be freestanding events or form part of a seasonal concert series.

1. Songs from Soul - Sixteen songs by Schubert, Schumann, Wolf, Debussy and others recorded in London 2002-3; poems interspersed April 2004.

2. Songwords and Spirit -Fifteen songs by Mozart, Wolf, Schumann and Scandinavian composers; recorded by Karin, Michael and Richard at the Wigmore Hall, London, on 27th April 2005.
